That's a Wrap! End of Season Players Supper and Awards Night 2026

Kwame Appiah

Saturday saw the annual player’s supper and awards evening taking place signifying the end of the 2026 season.

Thank you to all that have once again made 2026 another successful and enjoyable season at Finchampstead. The club would simply not be able to function and continue to thrive without the tireless work of the committee, the generous support financially from our vice presidents/sponsors and the numerous volunteers/supporters on matchdays. No better example of this was this season’s PCA day in June which was a huge success and saw crowds of around 1,000 people enjoy a great day.

The finishing positions for the 5 men’s teams and the women’s team are below along with the 2026 award winners. The first team finished 4th in the HCPL with the four TVL sides all remaining in their respective divisions, which was an excellent achievement having all been moved up a division this season. The women’s side were successful in their bid to gain promotion and did it emphatically winning all games by a significant margin.

Notable player achievements

  • Sam Seecharan and James Isbell came 5th and 7th respectively in the HCPL top run scorers.
  • Liam Dudding was 5th in HCPL top wicket takers
  • Jed Crerar’s (40) dismissals broke the all-time HCPL record for number of dismissals in a season.
  • Connor Rees finished 4th in TVL 1B top run scorers.
  • Freddie Bishop came 8th (having only played 9 games) in TVL 3A top run scorers
  • Rui Wright finished 5th and Ian Rose 7th in TVL 6A top run scorers
  • Nishka Gavankar finished 2nd in HCPL women’s 2A top run scorers

Off the pitch improvements continue to be made……….

An artificial wicket has been installed on the leas to assist with the large volume of colt’s games which require varying wicket lengths. An ECB grant was applied for and approved for a large amount of this expensive project.

An unprecedented amount of end-of-season renovation work has taken place on both squares by an outside company. The whole of the main square has had up to 20mm removed and had two extra practice wickets added on to the scorebox side of the square.

As part of the major building work renovation, which is now complete, the new kitchen will be used by a couple setting up a business as a café. Further details will be released soon regarding opening hours and offerings etc. Catering requirements for first team matches will be carried out by them moving forwards and will likely have food on offer to all on Saturday evenings after games.

Winter nets have been booked starting in February on Monday evenings at the Housego Indoor Cricket Centre 7-9pm.
