No match at High Wycombe for Finchampstead on Saturday at the twelve matches played two thirds stage of the HCPL Division One campaign.

Overnight rain and light drizzle most of the morning ensured no prospects of a start at 11 am. The match was called off at 1 15 pm after several inspections as there seemed little chance of the ground drying out sufficiently by the latest start time for a valid 70 overs game of 2 30 pm. Of the five division one matches two were called off as with this one, one was abandoned mid afternoon and two played.

The Seconds, Thirds and Fourths all played in the TVCL with delayed starts and the Fifths called off as abandoned.

At Finchampstead the Seconds faced Royal Ascot Firsts in Division 2B. Royal Ascot totalled 173 – 8 in their 45 overs with Michael O’Donohue taking 4 – 46. After a bright start Finches faltered finally needing seven off the last over with nine wickets down. They were dismissed for 168 with three balls remaining for a close five run win for the visitors.

The Thirds in Division 3A had a fine win at Falkland Seconds. Batting first Finches closed on 192 – 7 with Ben Simmons 82 and Andy Webb 40. Falkland were bowled out for 81 with success for spinners Matt Harper 4 – 16 and Ben Cole 3 – 35.

On the leas the Fourths faced Theale & Tilehurst Seconds in Division 6B. The visitors were all out for 165 with Cameron Ellis 4 – 31 and Dan Floyd 3 – 70. After a great start putting on 75 Ben Fisher was bowled for 63. Four more fell so at 78 – 5 Finches never recovered and were all out for 141 to lose by 24 runs.
