U9 Falcons beat Kidmore End

08/07/2008

The U9 Falcons played their penultimate league game of the season, meeting Kidmore End at Finchampstead on Sunday 22nd June. Having lost the toss and been sent in to bat the Falcons were strangely off colour and produced what was possibly their worst batting performance for 2 years. Badly judged shot selection, injudicious hitting and some very odd calling and running decisions left them some way short of a decent total, in reaching 231-8 although it has to be mentioned that Kidmore End bowled commendably straight and took some good catches along the way.

After a sharper half-time team talk than the Falcons are perhaps used to we then saw what was undoubtedly the best bowling and fielding performance from the Falcons to date. Aggressive and accurate bowling performances from all of the bowlers, especially Thomas Manuel, Jamie Brown and Sam Dunks, together with good outfield catches from Jack Griffiths and Kieran Brown, and excellent ground fielding all round, saw Kidmore End restricted to 202-11.

A really solid bowling and fielding performance - well done to all the team, epecially after the batting!
