Local Derby
On a fine Thursday evening the U15 Eagles took on Wokkingham in a BYCL match, but also local derby.
Finchampstead won the toss and elected to bat - Openers Beswck and Walton set about setting a target and found the opening few overs tough to score runs. Wokingham bowled and fielded well and soon got their first wicket.
Ollie Armstrong Wood then came to the wicket and with Billy Beswick began to atteck the bowling and pushed the score on until Billy Beswick was caught. Luke Mills took up the attack and pushed the total on with Ollie Armstrong Wood retiring on 51 with 2 sixes. Finchampstead stepped up the pace and by the end of 20 overs had a total of 140 for 5.
There was some excellent bowling from Greyling and Vassen of wokingham, but also 18 wides bowled.
Wokingham set about chasing down Finchampsteads target and opener Matt Loxton remained steady, whilist the finchampstead bowlers bolwed out othes boys at the other end. He was succesfull until caught and then Larson, Stabler and Greyling tried to reach Finchampstead total but ended up 33 runs short. The Finchampstead bowling was good and the fielding has improved. Mills and Crookall both took 3 wickets with Crookall at one time on a hattrick ball.
A fine game of cricket played and good sportsmanship by both teams.
