The Final

And so on  the hottest day of the year Finchampstead play Falkland CC in the Final of the County Cup.

Having lost the toss Finchampstead where put in to bat. The start of this match was not as successful as the semi final and Finch loss opener Billy Beswick in the third over. Falkland opening bowlers bowled well and the team where obviously up for the match as the noise in the field was loud. However Anderson and Armstrong Wood concentrated on the job in hand punishing the bad ball and looking for ones at every opputunity.

Anderson was out in the 9th over and this brought Josh Lincoln to the field  who seemed to have decided that he was going to attack and get a respectable total for Finch. 

 He and Armstrong pushed the total on with some luck for Lincoln and poor fieldng and catching by Falkland. Lincoln eventually out for 45. Armstrong and Bale carried on and after 20 overs Finch had 141 runs. Was this going to be enough ?

Falkland set about scoring runs and after 5 overs had scored 41 runs, However a change of bowling brought 3 wickets and at drinks, 10 overs, Falkland needed 80 runs. 

Not sure what was in the drinks, but Finch came back with determination and with some excellent bowling from Bale. Armstrong, Lincoln and Stevenson.- Falkland just wiltered. The fielding was excellent and with Mills to bowl the final over. Finch had restricted Falkland from scoring 141 they ended up 20 runs short.

A fine game and everyone of the Finch players played a part of a winning team and can be very pround to be a U15 County Club champion.

All the support from Parents, Grandparents, Uncles, Aunties and Counsin`s made the day special and for the Finch manager Michael Bale it just showed what he has always said " He has a talented bunch of boys, who play the game properly and enjoy what they do.

Next step - a club in the county of Surrey.
