02-08-2011 - Away - ECB U15 Regional Finals - Bexley CC vs Finch

Semi Final

On another warm day the Finchampstead U15s travelled to Horsham CC for the semi final of the U 15 Nat West Regional competition. 

Finchampstead drew Bexley CC in the  morning game and won the toss and elected to bat. 

A change to the opening partnership saw Bill Beswick and Adam Dewes open,

 The bowling from the off was of good standard and Finch found it hard to get going. With in the first over Finch lost a wicket which brough Ollie Armstring Wood to the crease. Tha pair put on 24 runs before we lost another wicket and despite Mills and Lincoln trying to score runs, but getting stumped and caught and withthe rest of the team contributing what they could Finch could only score 84 runs,  of which 15 came from wide balls.

The bowling was exceptional and some excellent keeping from G Haley. Bexley were on a roll and the noise in the field told you who was on top.

With heads down, Fichampstead took to the field. Bexlet started as they mean to go on. Things could have been different if Adam Dewes had held on to an extremely difficult catch and our bowling could have matched Bexley, but  with 7 overs to spare Bexley beat us and played Woodford Wells in The Final.

It was a tough game and the Bexley team although the same age, definetly at the top  of the Age group. Some disappointed Finch boys and parents, but all should be proud of what we had achieved. Only the 6th game to have lost in 3 seasons - not bad.
