Eagles Fall Back to Earth With a Bump!

After the impressive display in their first match, the Eagles slumped to a heavy and disappointing loss at home against Kidmore End.

Batting first, the Eagles found themselves under pressure from a quality bowling attack.  Unable to establish a run rate that would provide a challenging total for the visitors to chase, a reckless and sometimes desperate batting performance saw the Eagles stumble to 44 for 3 after 10 overs.  Matters did not improve, with no significant partnerships being established, and the Eagles performing the cardinal sin in 20-over cricket and not completing all their overs.  After the first ball in the sixteenth over, the Eagles found themselves all out for 84.

In order to win the match, the Eagles would have to produce a fielding and bowling performance of the highest quality.  Unfortunately this was no to be.  Kidmore End’s opening pair both retired untroubled and after just 13.1 overs the visitors had achieved a 10-wicket victory.  Perhaps the most disappointing aspect of this loss was the Eagles’unusual sloppy fielding display.  In order to progress in the BCYL a significant improvement is required for the next match against Henley.
