08-05-2011 - Away - ECB National KO - Harrow vs Finch

Finches edged out by Harrow Town in National

Jones' 11 available Finches were narrowly edged out in a batting contest by Harrow Town in the first round of the National on Sunday.

Winning the toss Lincoln and Jones set off at a tremendous pace with the 50 up in the 3rd over and some helpful bowling being dispatched to all parts. Lincoln impressed greatly with his 133 and supported by first Jones (28) Bell (41) and Ansell (36) the visitors must have fancied their 316 to be defendable even by the makeshift attack that had travelled to the Rayners Lane ground.

Somethings just dont work out as they seem and so it prooved as the Finch bowlers disappeared to corners of the rough ground at a pace very similar to that which they themselves had set.

Only Potter 2 - 38 in his 9 and a double strike from Bell made much headway with the ball but it was too little too late as the 37 wides and a couple of spilled chances handed the jubilant Harrow side an unlikely win and the pleasure of a second round encounter that will surely see them suffer a similar fate to the Finch side next time out.
