A strong fifths won well in division 8. They hosted Royal Ascot and batting first were 297 – 7. Opening the batting with son Tom skipper Mike Bale saw 110 on the board before Tom departed for 54. Bale senior went on to 100 and strokes from Nathan Clarke 70 and Peter Bulteel 47 not out contributed to the total.
Royal Ascot were all out for 165. They were hit by a return of 6 – 41 from Jim Dewes including a hat-trick and assisted by 3 fine stumpings by Josh Lincoln.
The Captain Mike Bale departed the pitch to a round of applause and now passes on the Captains role to another.
All who have played in the 5ths have enjoyed their cricket and a lot of the youngsters have moved on up and will serve the club well.
Another succesfull summer.
