20-06-2009 - Home - TVL - Finch vs Hayes
Surrogate Captain Michael Bale and his men made short work of Hayes 3 on an overcast afternoon at Arborfield.
Hayes elected to bat and were soon off to a start with 50 on the board after 11 overs for the loss of only the one early wicket to McClean. Two in Two in the 12th also for McClean (one an excellent slip catch for Dave Marles) soon changed the picture. Regular wickets fell with sound catching and fielding giving wickets to all the bowlers Beswick, Bale (2), Wroot, Lincoln and McDowell al putting their names in the scorebook as Hayes fell for 117.
In reply Finch lost Dan Marles in the 9th but with Pete Bulteel's (64)regular scoriong at the other end the young Finches were always in control.
Dave Marles (18 not out) and Ollie Beswick saw the score through to the required 118 after only 23 overs and the points returned to the Memorial ground again for an early celebratory drink.
