25-07-2009 - Home - TVL - Finch vs Harefield
Having won the toss and elected to bat on a crusty Arborfield wicket Harefield were soon in trouble with both openers removed to the bowling of Mitch (1-8) and Billy (1-11). Introduction of spin again proved key as turn and bounce was evident at both ends. Regular wickets and maidens to the bowling of Potz (4-14) and JJ (4-10) both of whom amazingly recorded rare triple wicket maidens in the book. With Stumped Potter (ma) bowled Potter (mi), Caught Dewes (max) bowled Dewes (ma), Caught Dewes (ma) bowled Potter (mi), Stumped Potter (ma) bowled Dewes (ma) and Caught Potter (max) bowled Dewes (ma) all in the record it was a family affair as Harefield were all out 56 in 28 overs.
With no tea in sight the sides turned straight round and the responsibility of knocking off the required 57 was as far as possible given to those who otherwise had not contributed. Richard Reed (12), Adam Dewes (12) Jim Dewes (10) Dave Marles (11*) and Henry Potter (5*) securing the win.
After an early finish back to the memorial ground for more games for some and a celebratory beer for others.
