24-07-2010 - Away - TVL - North Maidenhead vs Finch
......sadly only one side wanted to play !
In division 2a visiting North Maidenhead Finches posted a large total. They were 304 – 3 in 46 overs thanks to an unbroken 230 run partnership between skipper Tom Ansell 122 not out and Dom Pike 100 not out. North Maidenhead settled for the draw at 207 – 8 . Spinners Tom Potter 3 – 59 and Matt Harper 2 – 27 led the bowlers for Finches who settle into third slot.
Without their leading run scorer NM made no attempt to chase Finches total. Given 54 overs NM limped in at 202-8 claiming just 6 points from the days play. Thanks to Tommy Ansell and Dom Pike hundreds Finch set a big total but declared early to encourage a fair contest. Tom Potter and JJ Dewes (both 14) opened the bowling with the old ball. More overs for these two young spinners will surely produce a spin-twin partnership that should thrive in years to come. Jon Stewart (93*) guided his side in at 202-8 but, in truth, scoring at 1.7 an over with the field up was never going to send the crowd wild.
Finch move on to a home fixture with the high Flying Datchet next week - chances are there wont be a bore draw in this encounter !
