04-07-2009 - Away - HCPL - Wokingham vs Finch
Finchampstead visited local derby opponents Wokingham in the Saturday premier league clash.
With drizzle about, Finches were asked to bat first. They soon lost Matt Jones caught driving at Ryan Hiscoe and after a short loss of two overs, as the rain returned, they were indebted to Sam Cheetham 29 and Aaron Todd for an 81 run second wicket partnership. When Todd was dismissed for a fine 91 there were 193 on the board with 4 wickets down. The runs continued at a good pace with a good 61 from Sam Taylor and 35 from Charlie Alexander. The total at the allotted 59 overs was 289 for 9.
Wokingham started badly with three wickets down at 52. But a match-winning partnership between Sunny Grover and Dan Reddyhough put on 96 until at 146 Reddyhough was well caught in the cover by Aaron Todd. The fine strokes of Grover ensured the match turned in favour of Wokingham as he won the match with five overs remaining in an unbroken partnership with Nick Hartley. At the close with Wokingham 290 for 4 Grover was 152 not out as the needed win was assured
