25-07-2009 - Away - HCPL - Beaconsfield vs Finch

Finches need Bounce-back-ability

It was a visit to league leaders Beaconsfield for Finchampstead on Saturday in the Home Counties Premier League.
Winning the toss Beaconsfield asked Finches to bat first in conditions looking to favour bowling in the early stages. This proved the case as two wickets soon fell both caught behind and at 35 the third followed. Then a good stand between Matt Jones and Sam Taylor saw 117 on the board before Jones was bowled for a good 79. But then three more wickets fell for only eight more runs as the middle order failed leaving the innings in disarray at 125 for 7. Some late strokes saw 159 for 9 at the 60 over closure.
Given 50 overs Beaconsfield themselves soon lost a wicket with a second at 45. But an unbroken stand between Luc Walker and Chris Thomas saw the hosts ease home comfortably at 160 for 2 for the sound win.
