15-06-2010 - Away - Bracknell & Dist Eve Cricket League - Sandhurst vs Finch

Midweek team slip up at Sandhurst

On a very sunny evening but somewhat chilly in the shadows when skipper Alex Jones won the toss.  Finch were only able to field a team of 10 players and posted 161 for 5, a par score with a skipper's knock by Alex for 37 with Matt a quickfire 43 and Scotty a bold 35.  u15's Billie Beswick and Michael Walton were unbeaten on reaching the target.

Justin and Dylan started well with a wicket each and Justin a very credible 8 for 1 off 2 overs.  Billie and Michael  contiinued well but Sandhurst were starting to hit some boundaries.  Billie bowled a very credible 4 overs with 3 for 29.  With 6 overs to go Sandhurst needed 10 an over.  Sandhurst skipper agreed to a late sub for Matt by Nathan Clarke in civies in keeping with the old chestnut 'what time is the match' answered by 'what time can you get here'.   Although 5 catches were held, with two of them quite spectacularly by Matt and Dylan. Marcus Bazley, who stood in as keeper, was unlucky not be rewarded with smart stumping. There were some dropped catches and some bowling that one might describe as ameliorating to Sandhurst coupled with one or two crucial umpiring decisions not going Finches way.  The die was cast, with Sandhurst reaching their target with 5 balls to spare with S Malla not out on 82.   With the sun down it was a very chilly evening for a most credible turnout of Finch supporters.
