Flyers win Midweek Final

With thunderous clouds passing and under an extremely hot evening sun Finch flyers having reached the final in their first year in the Bracknell Midweek Evening League were invited to bat and soon lost Charlie bringing Aaron to the crease.  Aaron went for his shots from ball one was strongly supported by first Simon 21 then Marcus who played a super 34 not out.  Aaron playing a lot of big big shots reached a league record, 149 not out, surpassing Michael Carson's league record knock in the memorial match last week, saw Finch to  a massive 214 for 2 off the 16 8 ball overs. 
 

Sandhurst struggled against Finch's accurate bowling with superb ground work in the field.  James and Dan bowled the first 8 overs and the Clarke brothers completed the next 8.  All the bowlers were rewarded with a wicket each and Aaron scored a direct hit run out, with Sandhurst finishing on 99 for 5 in the gathering gloom.  With only 2 wides recorded, Alex, David and Ashley played a major part in ensuring Sandhurst scored only 6 boundaries.  Finch supporters also played their part with much whooping and hollering.
The presentation by league chairman Andrew Elliot who thanked Binfield for preparing the gound and their hospitality awarded medals, the team cup to Simon, man of the match to Aaron and Final trophy to our chairman Neil Doody.

This concludes a most successful first season where the players have all enjoyed their cricket and have well represented Finchampstead cricket club.  Over 30 players have been involved at various times.
