Chilly win for Finch Flyers
Amazingly kipper Simon Bell lost the toss and Finch were handed the ball. It was getting chilly, was this an omen, a portent of things to come. There was however no cause for concern because the bowling partnership of Phil West ‘down the hill’ and Dylan Augustus ‘from the pavilion end’ bowled consistently tight overs. It was almost metronomic. Both rewarded with a wicket and Bracknell was pinned down to only 40 off 8 overs for 2. They finished their 8 ball per over partnership with Phil 1 for 18 off 4 and Dylan with 1 for 20 off 4. Matt Huggan, who turned out for the team with a badly cut hand and thus unable to bowl, at one stage seemed to be targeted in the field by the batsmen but he put on a good show in spite of his injury. Dan Lincoln kept very well and was rewarded with a catch. Bracknell had to open up at some stage and Marcus Bazley, Justin Clarke and Matt Morris were unlucky to be the recipients but they all still kept the extras low and Aaron then neatly completed the 16 overs with Bracknell on 129 for 3.
Finch batters set about their task with relish, all enjoying much mightily smiting of the ball with Aaron (37) Simon (18) Charlie Alexander (32) and a very good closing stand of David Bellis (26 not out) and Matt Morris (12 not out) for Finch to complete the task in 11.1 overs. For spectators it was both chilly in execution of their duties as well as body warmth.
Next week the much heralded visit of Binfield, who won the previous match on the last ball!
