27-06-2008 - Away - BYCL - Woodley vs Finch

u17 Slip Up at Woodley

With Woodey on 72 for 5 after 15 overs, Finch were in control.  Shring the wicket keeping duties with Scott Osler, skipper Matt Morris took 3 catches behind the stumps which included a magnificent diving catch in front of the stumps. Then a wonderful one handed catch by Adam Davey off a drive inches off the ground off his own bowling was also a real treat.  Adam's figures of 9 for 1 off 3 overs were 'best of breed'.  Matt Bell, Anish Koshal and Phil West were economical and Anish collected 2 well earned wickets.  But then a 54 run unbroken partnership by Woodley 6 & 7 batsmen put them on a very good score of 128 for 5.  A first ball run-out seemed to set the scene and Finch were on a disappointing 38 for 3 off 10 overs.  Not insurmountable but tough.  Matt Bell 29 made a defiant stand but unfortunately it was not enough and Finch finished on 83 for 7.  The u17's need to do well in their remaining BCL games and matters are not now in their own hands.
