Finches Thurnder on at Thatcham

Under a stormy sky, having won the toss, Charlie and Adam opened the batting.  Adam departed early having pulled a short one.  Charlie powered his way to 50 off 27 deliveries aided by Alex turning over the strike.  Finch reached 85 off 10 overs and then wickets fell before Marcus 19 and James Osler 17 raised the run rate for Finch to close on 149 for 7.  Anish and Phil restricted Thatcham openers run rate with some accurate bowling.  Then Tony took 2 quick wickets for Thatcham to be on 43 for 2 off 10 overs.  With Matt Morris collecting a wicket at the other end Tony eventually finished with 4 wickets. With the light fading, spinners Matt Huggan and Adam Davey collected a brace each but Thatcham held on to their last wicket to close on 95 for 9.  Good catches by Charlie, Alex, Marcus (off a well executed reverse sweep straight to the fielder) and Ali Black who turned out out after a minor operation the previous day to help the team in it's hour of need and a couple of neat stumpings all added grist to the wheel of fortune.  It will be a tragedy if this team does not go through to the semi's now.
