The u17 game at Guildford was a disaster before the team got there. Lack of transport nearly scuppered the game but with heroics by Ian Huggan and David Bellis fighting through a monster traffice jam on the M4 and the help (as always) by Neena Koshal and by providing two cars from your truly, the team eventually arrived hot, bothered and no time for a warm-up. Guildford won the toss ad elected to bat under picture blue skies. At 92 for one after 10 overs they were going a bit big. With a retirement by Perry on 50 and a run out, Guildford were pegged back to a still sizable total of 146 for 7. All the bowlers, Tony Smith, Anish Kohal, Alex Walton, Marcus Bazley and Matt Huggan struggled initially but got hold of things in their later overs. Finches batting lost early wickets with only Charlie 31 Marcus 25 and Tony Smith 27 not out putting up resistance. Alex Walton 10, hit the biggest 6 of the match. Guildford fielding was amaziing, holding catches where they should not have and everything stuck, it was their day. Finch finished on 116 for 9. Travelling to Guildford is not conducive to good performance and net practice is needed for this team to improve but the team did not give up and played with a good spirit and were a credit to the club.
