U13s At ECB Regional Finals 2nd Match

Finches were to play High Wycombe after lunch and the team were certainly brighter in the field. Wycombe won the toss and elected to bat first. The bowling and fielding was tidier, due partly to the bowlers not having to bowl at so many county players hell bent on reaching the national finals! Max again was outstanding, bowling his 4 overs for just 15 runs. Darius took 2, Richard took 2 and Sam picked up a wicket to leave the opposition on 112 -5 after 20 overs. The first part of the job had been done and this was a reasonable total to chase. However, the batters did not do themselves justice and we ended up 79 all out in just 16 overs. It was a great achievement to get to the regional finals but it was a timely reminder that hard work is still required to compete at the higher level. We all felt it was a good experience for the boys and they will appreciate the hard work needed to improve their game.
