10-06-2008 - Away - BYCL - Royal Ascot vs Finch
Under blue skies in the centre of Ascot Race Course, a top of the league clash took place in perfect conditions. Finch lost the toss and Ascot elected to bat first. They took full advantage of some too short bowling and were 62-1 after only 9 overs. Despite the pitch being completely green with only the stumps pitched to indicate it from the rest of the square, on came spin which turned the game. Sam Gomarsall and Richard Reed both bowled superbly with figures of 4-0-14-4 and 4-0-20-3 respectively. This took the impetus away frm Ascot who had at one time threatened a total in excess of 150. Good bowling support from Dan Skinner saw a total of 120-8 to chase. Dan Lincoln and Richard got the innings off to a rapid start both retiring on scores over the 30 mark. Dan Skinner and Sam Gomarsall kept the runs flowing and Finch past the winning post off only 12 overs.
