U13 Eagles seal league with 100% wins
Even with a depleted squad with some of our regulars either away training or not available, the boys still managed to post a good score of 103 off their 20 overs. Even with Luke setting off for a suicidal run and brilliantly running himself out allowing the opposition to walk to the stumps to remove the bails, Dan Skinner, Max Stevenson, Chris Wroot and Josh repaired the damage and all chipped in with some good flowing shots. Max Stevenson got a standing ovation when he set off for his first run as his four preceeding innings had ended in ducks! 22 not out for Max was nearly as big as his smile when the innings ended. Dan decided in another moment of madness to run himself out and 'Yes, No and Sorry' soon followed. Crown Wood were in confident mood as they started their innings and steaming in down the hill came 'Jumpin' Josh Flash'. Bang - off went the off stump bail and a bewildered Crown Wood opener had the long walk back to the Leas pavilion. Josh, having survived several hundred high fives from his team mates managed to get his hand back into place to deliever the second ball of the over. Bang - off went the bails again. This time to avoid further bruising Josh wisely kept his hand in his pocket as the celebrations began again. Picking up a handful of wickets and then changing into the wicket keepers pads, pleading with the umpire for several attempted stumpings, there was no stopping him now. The other bowlers all chipped in and Crown Wood finally fell short. This win sealed the league for the Eagles who now go forward to play in the semi finals.
