18-06-2008 - Away - BYCL - Binfield Thunder vs Finch

U13 Eagles Win at Binfield

Finch returned to Binfield folowing on from their previous victory in the BYCL Cup tie. Finch won the toss and decided to bat first as threatening skies and a low slow pitch awaited. It was an innings of two halves and thankfully the top half managed to get a good total on the board with Dan L and Richard Reed retiring on 30 each and Luke Mills scoring a confident 25. As the ball got softer, the bounce in the pitch virtually disappeared and three LBWs followed for 0, all trapped in front and the ball could even have deemed to have gone under the stumps! Nine batsmen managed 7 runs between them but we still ended up with a total of 116 A/0. Runs were still going to be difficult and with the first innings ball getting softer with over bowled it was to be so. Chris Wroot got 3 wickets bowling with good line and length. With rain in the air and getting darker, on came the spinners to hurry things up. Max Stevenson bowled 4 overs taking 1 for 12 and Richard Reed bowling 4 overs and taking 3-17, the three wickets in his first maiden over, it was all but over for Binfield. Binfield ended all out for 62 and it was back in the pavilion for some welcome shelter on a June evening that could have been mistaken for November. Another good win for the Eagles.
