Winning Start for U15 Eagles
So begins a new season for the U15 Eagles, who began with a win.
Finchampstead travelled to Purley Cricket Club and a very pleasant place to play cricket.
Finchampstead won the toss and elected to back and the old and established partnership of Billy Beswick and Michael Walton started the Finch innings. Some vey impressive shots where played and Michael Walton showed that he has developed and can hit those boundaries he struggled with last year.Billy Beswick continued as if the winter break had never occured.
After 10 overs Finch where 70 for no loss and the opening partnership continued, until both had to retire on 52 and 50 respectively. This brought Tom Edwards to the crease and new member James Coldwell. Both continued to take advantage of some poor fielding and a silly shot gave Purley their first wicket. Matt Freeman faced a few balls before overs ran out and Finch finished on 139 for 1. With James Coldwell 18 not out.
Opening Bowlers Liam Coldwell and Chris Wroot made a fine start and by the 5th over 2 wickets had been lost A few loose balls allowed Purely to start to make a total, but a change in bowling and some neat fielding saw the Purley Batting side collapse and after 20 overs they were 93 for 8. Scott Rixon being the best of the bolwers with 1 over 3 wicks for 3 runs.
Good start to the 2010 season and a performance to build on.
