06-06-2010 - Home - BYCL quarter final - Finch vs Reading

Semi Finals here we come

Another enjoyable day and good final result. A cup quarter final with the opportunity to make BCL finals day was at stake and against a good Reading side Finch lost the toss and were put into bat. Unusually we struggled to get going and had to rely on some lusty blows from skipper Tom and a very valuable innings from George to get us past the 100 mark. But when Finch put their minds to it even against good batsmen they are hard to break down. Some excellent fielidng and bowling by all slowly strangled the game and we came home with Reading 17 runs short.

The primary reason for this was evident in the scorebook where I am delighted to announce the team made a major landmark that I have set them over the last couple of years. No wides, No no-balls (and only 2 extras in the whole 20 overs). There are no excuses now boys!!

Result allowed me to celebrate a truly 'happy' birthday and thanks boys for the serenade in the changing rooms - I'd not bother auditioning for next years Britains got talent...
