Falcons bounce back at Shinfield

Following the heavy defeat at Reading, the Falcons quickly bounced back with a comfortable win away to Shinfield. Batting first, the Falcons profited from a high number of extras but also through confident and aggressive batting with boundaries dominating the scoreboard. Along the way to a challenging score of 137-3, both Owen Powell and Kieran Brown retired on 25 and 26 respectively.

Even with the benefit of a significant score to play with, it was important for the Falcon’s bowling attack to start strongly – and that is exactly what they did. With Sam Lawton-Davies taking a wicket to break-up the opening pair on the second ball of the Shinfield innings, and Kieran Brown registering a maiden and wicket maiden for his two overs the hosts were soon under pressure – and the Falcons were no in mood to give the opposition any sort of relief. With a couple of well taken run outs and a wicket each for Lucas Bamber, Will Edwards, James Woodford, Owen Powell, Sam Dunks and Robbie Thompson, Shinfield finished on 80 runs in the 18th over. A much needed victory following the defeat to Reading and one that will hopefully steady the Falcon’s season.
