13-06-2010 - Home - BYCL - Finch vs Crown Wood
The rollercoaster season for the Falcons continued with an easy win at home against Crown Wood. The visitors kicked-off proceedings by electing to bat first, but offered very little resistance to accurate and skilful bowling. After their twenty overs Crown Wood had reached 48 for the loss of 8 wickets. There were a number of notable performances for the Falcons including a maiden from Owen Powell, a wicket maiden from James Woodford, a double wicket maiden from James Millard, and a maiden and wicket maiden from Joe Loveday. The only thing standing between the Falcons and victory was a batting collapse not seen before from the boys.
In fact, the Falcons did not have everything their own way. The Crown Wood bowling was accurate and determined and the Falcons found themselves under pressure at 24 for 4 in the eighth over. Considering what had happened against Binfield, how would they respond? This was soon answered and any nerves soon eased by the Falcons being guided home through a partnership between Joe Loveday and Sam Lawton-Davies, with Sam hitting a clean cover drive for four in the eleventh over to secure victory. It is hoped that the Falcons will take the confidence of this win into their next match against Emmbrook and keep their season on track.
