Finch Win Again

Another win for Finch

Finch won the toss and invited Kidmore end to bat first,

Finch opened the bowling with the firm of lawyers Mason and Martin. The Kidmore End openers seemed intent on hitting every ball out of the ground;  difficult to do against accurate length bowling which is what the two Davids were sending down. Soon enough the wickets started to fall with Dave Mason taking the first 4 to fall. David Martin was unlucky in his spell and finished with figures of 7 overs, none for 19. Phil West joined the attack and was soon amongst the wickets, capturing the Kidmore End skipper who displayed the worst kind of behaviour on his trip back to the dressing room, throwing his bat and kicking his lid as if he was a 12 year old. Phil added another wicket before Dave Mason picked up his 5th wicket finishing with figures of 14 overs 5 for 25. Phil kept up the fall of wickets and added 2 more for figures of 6 overs 4 for 20; a good return for the young bowler. At this point Bobby O brought on Mike Simmonite and himself to clean up the tail. Bobby O took the last wicket having bowled 2 overs 1 for 14. Mike must have felt unlucky as a couple of good LBW shouts were turned down and ended on 2 overs none for 5. Some good catching helped the bowlers and there were 2 catches each for Ben Fischer and Phil West, one off his own bowling. David Davis took the other catch.
The Kidmore End innings finished on 87 from 30 overs.

The Finch openers set of at a good paced and Mat Lay was the first to go for 22 from 23 balls. Adam Davey succumbed to a good ball for 2, but David Davis kept on plugging away. Ben Fischer played some nice shots but was out to a poor shot for 11 from 16 balls (if he just plays proper cricket shots he will score lots of runs). Tom Hopkins joined David and mixed defence with some trademark lofted drives. These two took the score onto the required 88 without any further trouble, David ending on 27 and Tom 18

This 20 point win moved the 4’s up to 3rd in the table and the team is looking to keep up the momentum next week against second placed Henley
