With two successive wins behind them fourth placed Finchampstead visited top of the table Farnham Royal on Saturday.

Skipper Taylor continued his rich vain of poor form with the toss and Finches were asked to bat first. Conditions were good and openers Lane and Patterson strolled out to face the seam of Krishmar Santokie and Ishmail Boparai. With 43 runs on the board two wickets were down leaving Russell Lane and Sam Cheetham to press on with the run gathering. A mix up with 79 on the board led to the burley Bucks allrounder Lane being needlessly run out for a hard hitting 53. Soon after skipper Sam Taylor was smartly stumped by Richard Sandford. A good stand of 84 between Cheetham and Darron Augustus saw the score to a sound 182 with 8 remaining overs. But a remarkable collapse saw the remaining 6 wickets fall for just 6 runs in 3 overs including two run outs. Finches were dismissed for 188 with Cheetham 53 and Augustus 40. A disappointing end to the innings left Finch 40 short of what they might have hoped for.

Tight early bowling from the pacemen saw Farnham Royal three down at 60. They recovered with a stand of 87 between Javed Khan and skipper Ollie Clayson before two wickets fell at 147. The sixth went down at 165 with Khan out for his well worked 76. By this time the three seamers were between them in the attack and the fiery accurate bowling of Anthony Parson, Steve Bloyce, and Darron Augustus changed the game. Bowling 11 overs between them including 4 maidens they restricted Farnham Royal to just 22 runs. Importantly the hosts lost 3 more wickets leaving 9 down for 186. One more gathered then Bloyce bowled Boparai for the memorable win with the total 187. All the pace bowlers performed exceptionally well with Parson leading the way with 4 for 54. Augustus with 3 for 17 and Bloyce 3 for 49 completed a fine display and merited win . This leaves second placing in the table with a visit on Saturday from top of the table Wokingham.
