24-06-2017 - Away - TVL - Falkland vs Finch

Batting Woes at Falkland

Following a disappointing batting performance the previous week at Wokingham, Finch travelled to Falkland hoping to put up a stronger fight. However, after losing the toss and being inserted Finch struggled to gather any momentum and build any meaningful partnerships required to post a score. Even though Finch seemed to get the best of the batting conditions the Falkland seam attack, particularly the overseas left armer, caused a great deal of problems for the batting side and found the edge of the bat on regular occasions with around 6 dismissals being caught behind the wicket. The visiting side were eventually bowled out for 95 which was well below par on a nice wicket and a fast outfield.

After regrouping over lunch Finch aimed to come out and create pressure and make it a tricky chase. Taking the old ball the spin twins of Uttley and Woodford, backed up by Lincoln, created a number of chances and got stuck into the Falkland top order and knocked over the first few but with one or two chances going amiss the total was never enough and Falkland got home 5 wickets down. Finch return to the memorial ground this coming weekend and host Marlow and will hope to get their first 25 point win of the season.
