Finchampstead has a thriving Youth Section which provides cricket for over 150 youngsters between the ages of 7 and 17. The club fields teams at U9, U11, U13, U15 and U17 which play league fixtures in the Berkshire Youth League and the Two Counties League. In the last two seasons the club has fielded very successful and growing girls only teams which compete in the Girls Berkshire Youth Cricket League; the club is particularly keen to attract more girls to play cricket at Finchampstead.
Finchampstead was awarded Club Mark Status by the ECB in 2005 which means that youth members playing cricket at Finchampstead receive coaching from ECB qualified coaches and the club has implemented all the recommended procedures for Child Protection and First Aid.
The quality of cricket played by our youth members is reflected in the large numbers of boys and girls who are selected to play for the Berkshire County and Wokingham & Bracknell District teams. Links with the main club are strong as many of our older members also represent the senior sides.
We take our cricket and our training seriously but always focus on having fun. Our core Values are published here: Values Presentation
In addition to over 120 fixtures played during the summer, the club also hosts a Six –A-Side Tournament on August Bank Holiday Monday which is now established as one of the most popular and well-run events of its type in Berkshire.
Our links with local schools in the community are very strong as the club has been selected to participate in the nationwide “Chance to Shine” initiative run by the Cricket Foundation. This involves club coaches delivering weekly coaching sessions in two secondary and four primary schools and running a primary school Kwik cricket festival.
The club is always keen to attract new members at all age-groups and initial enquiries should be directed to the relevant age-group contact in the Committee section of the site.
